Today - January 1, 2026 - I am releasing the updated format of EpicurusToday.com.
The main function of this site will be to allow me to blog and collect key material in a much more fault-tolerant website format. EpicureanFriends.com is a great website, but it has a very sophisticated database-reliant backend, and in the event of a major server outage recovery would be difficult.
The material collected at EpicurusToday.com will be entirely flat-file html based, and as such the site can easily be backed up and transferred to a new location as needed. Much work has been put into the material on Epicurus that we have collected over the years, and I want to be sure that material remains easily accessible to everyone who wants a copy.
In 2026 I plan to give more attention to regular "blogging" in addition to the existing weekly Lucretius Today podcast. The transcripts of those podcasts are being added to this website for easy search and access, and this blog will serve as a central location for significant posts which can then be cross-posted to Facebook, X, and other social media sites.
This site will also be the host for the transcriptions of key texts which we refer to regularly. I will work to keep older versions at other locations online as long as possible to make sure existing links don't go dead unnecessarily.
A new resource going live today is the Topical Outline of Concepts which follows the format used already for the parallel Lucretius and Diogenes Laertius sites. Much additional work will go into that, and users can choose whether the side-by-side format, of the regular full-page formt available here at EpicurusToday.com, suits their needs the best.
This EpicurisToday page will become the main host for:
